Progress yes

I've finally made contact with 2 companies about getting sample shirts. I will be recieving one shirt from clothes made from scrap and another from eco-gear. I've been having really good conversations with eco-gear and I'm fairly certain we will be sustainably enterprising in no time. There also may be some progress towards having my shirts custom made. It comes down to whether these samples are what I'm looking for in fabric feel and color fastness pre and post washing. It's all happening and I will be updating soon on the progress.

Another news nugget. My clothing company has been legally registered in B.C. Canada as Abel Clothing Crop. Not Corp, Crop. Abel was a brother in a biblical story who happened to be a gardener. Ding.

Keep your ears to the tracks, more to come.

More green shirts baby.

I came across a site that has a list of top recycled t-shirt companies. So here are my favorites and the link to the original source so you can check out the other options available there.

Recycled.ca
These are 100% recycled shirts offered in ash grey and white in bulk only.

eco-gear.ca
100% recycled tees as well as other eco items, with charities attached to sales.
I'm looking into using their shirts for my own designs, but at the moment it appears they only offer shirts printed with their own graphics. I will update whether they offer blanks later.

Van ity

I've been really struggling to find time to get this blog floating and bloated, and here is why. I've come across a lot of interesting sites, but I haven't really had the chance to look into them in detail, because I'm rushing around and I don't feel I want to post anything up without proper research of it.
What it comes down to, as well, is I'm low on money mainly because there are so many things I'll need to be doing in order to get my company legitimate. Also I'm saving up right now to buy a van to live in over the winter, so I can save money to get things really bumping for my label, and save to go to Australia. I haven't ever traveled and I really think it could benefit me artistically and all around as a person. I want to gain perspective and appreciation for the things I have, and the place I live and have lived for my whole life.

Onward and upward.

I haven't been posting on this blog as often as I would like, partly because it's not the easiest task to find new sources for environmental clothing, at least in the realm I am interested. Also I have been a tad lazy poihaps.
I will be putting up more information soon. I get paid this Thursday and I will be doing some Abel related business. Within the next month I will have some graphics up I hope as well. I will have at least one up by th 19th, because I promised a friend I would make him the shirt. I promised a few friends actually, but It'll probably be the same print. SUSPENSE.

Also, not to give my efforts no credit, I have had pretty much zero response from a lot of the companies out there offering green solutions, so tomorrow I will be spending my time calling them in person, because I'm hoping they will respond to a voice more openly than an email. The progress will be posted fellow frolickers.

Good day.

Dedication

I've decided to dedicate a specific blog to Abel's progression and going ons. For those people in fashion who want the straight goods about Abel. My hope is that this will be the most convenient way to get the word out about different things that will positively affect making fashion greener, as well as more fashionable.

I have 4 sites I want you to look at homeslices. Homeslices at home probly wondering, how's he gonna make green clothes stick to the market, with cyber gasoline, know what I mean.

http://clothesmadefromscrap.com

This company offers 100% recycled t-shirts made from pre-consumer clipping scraps that would otherwise be thrown away. To create these recycled T-shirts, the fibers of the mixed cotton and poly actually come in to the US from Spain and are then woven and spun into various fabrics from which the finished products are then cut and sewn. The T-shirts come in Black, light denim, storm grey, chocolate, sage and birch. There was a time when recycled Tees could be made in the US, but from what I know all these sources have gone out of business one by one. There isn't enough demand for recycled shirts.... ??!!

http://www.earthfashions.com/main.sc

Another company making 100% recycled clothing and accessories. These styles are not as well suited for a lifestyle brand, but there is massive potential. I will be looking into collaboration with them to create new fabric patterns/designs. The baja's are nice.

http://www.greenscreenprinting.com/apparel4.php/

A site devoted to green screen printing on eco-friendly shirts. They print on AA Sustainable Ed., Econcious and Of The Earth shirts. Contact them regarding sending in your own shirts to be printed on.

http://www.patagonia.com/us/patagonia.go?slc=en_US&sct=US&assetid=2791

This site is big. There is a lot to be seen here. A lot of people already know about Patagonia as they have been around for a while and have a dominating presence on the earth friendly front. The clothing items you will find on here that are recycled are baselayers, shell jackets, board shorts and fleece as well as organic clothing. They have proceeds going from sales to different charities and environmental funds.
They also have a grant program for those who would like to pursue changing the world and are tight for cash.

That's it for the first post on Abel's blog. Now go forth.
